Time Magazine Features Bowman's Art

Eric Bowman's artwork was featured on the recent cover of Time Magazine, as well as Time for Kids, highlighting a look at Public Service in America. "A Time To Serve" examines the case for establishing a National Service program, and various forms such a program might take.

The cover has generated much interest from readers -- from a father and young daughter in Pennsylvania inspired by the patriotic symbolism, to a young mother going back to school who said the image looked just like her, and a grad student who said his civil rights rhetoric class actually used the cover as a discussion topic of propaganda regarding feminism and women workers.

For Eric, the art, symbolizes a hope that the next generation still cares about their fellow Americans, they are willing to sacrifice of themselves, and carry on the tradition of service that has been such a foundational cornerstone of our country. And as the father of a young daughter, Eric hopes his daughter will grow up like the young woman in the picture, "with a healthy respect of others, and a giving attitude of selflessness in a selfish world."
